About The Event<\/h2>\n

Our focus of this event, is the path Master Charles Warren took 50 years ago after serving 4 years in United States Air Force including a tour in Vietnam. Master Charles Warren returned to his hometown of Milwaukee, WI with a vision to begin teaching Karate. This vision was shaped by studying Goju Ryu Karate in Japan under Gogen Yamaguchi, and later Kempo Karate in Albuquerque, New Mexico under Bob Cummings tutelage, whose instructor was Adrian Emperado, the founder of Kajukenbo Kempo Karate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Master Warren desired to blend the two arts of Karate he studied into one art , \u201cKempo-Goju\u201dand share this knowledge with his hometown community of Milwaukee. So the dream begins.Kempo-Goju was started in 1970 at the Northside YMCA in a small room with four students -Mohammad Sabir, Reggie and Kevin Nash and Terry Stinson, all who would much later achievethe status of Shodan \u201cBlack Belts First degree.\u201d The first female to receive this distinctionwould be Marlene Simpson. At present date after 50 years of existence, the Kempo-Goju systemhas a little over 200 students who have achieved the rank of Shodan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In 1972, the first dojo was established on Green Bay Ave. in Milwaukee, WI, becoming the firstAfrican-American Martial Arts School in the State of Wisconsin. This combative art formwould spread to other cities in the State of Wisconsin, and even overseas to Kosovo in 2000.Even today the art continues to flourish. There are 4 dojos in the city of Milwaukee, one inPalmyra, WI, one in Hudson, WI, one in Strpce, Kosovo, with a new site to be established in thefall of 2010 in Denver Colorado.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
